WRITTEN & CREATED BY RYAN J BROWN
Ryan J. Brown, originally from North Lincolnshire, graduated from Goldsmiths University of London and received a scholarship to train as an actor at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. After winning the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Award in 2016 with his first ever script, he was named a ‘Talent to Watch’ by the RTS and GAY TIMES Magazine. Brown sold his first TV series at age 23 and is the only screenwriter to have been featured on the UK's BRIT LIST twice. Brown is a storyteller who mixes laughs and scares to create uniquely provocative works. Hailing from a northern working class background, he likes to tell stories we rarely see, with a specific focus on LGBTQ characters.
Brown is the creator and writer of WRECKED, an original horror comedy series currently being made for the BBC by EUSTON FILMS. Brown is developing three more original dramas for the BBC and has a further 10 projects in development with companies including SONY, DNA, KUDOS, LOOKOUT POINT, BIG TALK, ROUGHCUT, MAMMOTH, BABY COW and Norman Reedus' BBH. Brown recently wrote an episode of Netflix fantasy series HALF BAD produced by Andy Serkis' IMAGINARIUM.
Brown won the BAFTA Rocliffe award in 2017 for his pilot WE ARE YOUR CHILDREN and was named an “exciting new talent” by Idris Elba. The script was also selected for the first-ever TV Brit List (UK’s Black List). The series has since contributed to the reopening of a decades-old cold case and is the inspiration for a hit SONY podcast with the San Francisco Chronicle.
Ryan is repped by INDEPENDENT TALENT in the UK.
